About Me

Since you’re visiting my website, I thought it was only right that I told you a bit about myself.

Since March 17, I have been Executive Producer at Philly.com. More to come about that.

I got my introduction to journalism working as an editorial assistant at New York Newsday during its heyday in the ‘80s. I was fortunate to learn from the likes of Jimmy Breslin, Murray Kempton and Sidney Schamberg. Hired as an Editor at the Bergen Newspaper Group, located in Palisades Park, NJ, in 1997, I was in charge of the production of three weekly newspapers serving 25 communities in Bergen County, NJ and was involved in the launch and production of a weekly entertainment magazine serving Bergen County.

In 1998 I joined the Herald News, a 40,000-circulation daily newspaper in Passaic County, NJ. Prior to being appointed City Editor, I was Business Editor and Computer Assisted Reporting Editor. Under my editorship the Herald News received the New Jersey Press Association’s General Excellence Award and my reporters received recognition from the Deadline Club and the Society of Professional Journalists.

As an editor, I traveled to Israel and Palestine to report on the start of the second Intifada, and also to Poland, where I spent nearly a month to report on the country’s westernization and movement towards acceptance into the European Union.

In October 2005 I joined the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill, NJ as Metro Editor and was also instrumental in the expansion of the newspaper’s online presence.

I founded Jewish New Jersey, a free weekly newspaper based in Cherry Hill, NJ, in July 2006. I served as the newspaper’s Executive Editor and was President of its parent company JNJ Media Group, Inc. In addition, I conceived and built JNJ’s online presence.

In April 2007, I joined Ottaway Newspapers where I focus on online content development, distribution and strategy. I coach Ottaway’s reporters and editors and online staffs, helping them develop online content and grow their online audience. I also work with the corporate web development team to ensure that editorial content has a home in new products. In addition I lead training on topics including SEO, social media, social networking, community building and audience development techniques.

Thanks for stopping by.
